Hi guys

Just in case you were wondering where the hell I had gone. Well nowhere for now. We are intending to cross the big pond in early Feb. Everything is in place and the Dawg has his papers and flight booked. So that just leaves us then??

We will get there. We are selling everything that isn't screwed down, and getting the fund together.

We have a plan. We have a place to go, and we are just on the countdown now.

I have 4 more days of work left (4 day week) and then it is all systems go. As soon as the cash hits my account, it will be out and coming with.

The guys at work are starting to realise that it's real, and I'm going (they made me redundant for Gawds sake?). The funny thing is that I am the only one with a smile right now.

They are looking at a 3 day week and I am just looking to get outta here.

So what's not to smile about.

Just wanted to check in and say hi. And that I WILL be carrying on with my blog the other side of the pond.

  It will be fine. I am very excited. I know that I have an exciting future. Life is way too short not to grab every one of them. I have always done it. I don't care about security or things, just about the people and (in this case) the animals that I really love?

  I am SURE Dawg will be fine. He is a Lab/Rotty cross and so loves the snow. Don't know how I will cope with it. But the blogs should be interesting?

Well done Zappy. I wish you all the very best in your new life. As someone previously stated, you are better off out of this country and as soon as my studies are finished I too am off.

Perhaps you should start a North American version of Fat Fighters.

You might struggle for members to start with (after all, there are only about 32 million obese North Americans to choose from) but persevere and you will succeed!

Whatever you choose to do, do it with your usual verve and vitality and you certainly won't be needing any of the luck currently piling up on this page xxx

Splendid news.

I remember almost four years ago when it dawned on us that we were actually leaving! Quite scary at first but then it was suddenly done. Then began the period of re-adjustment. No friends, no fish'n'chips, no telly, no pubs, no newspapaers, blah, blah, blah. And everything we owned in a few cardboard boxes.

Now I look back with few regrets. The only really big one was that Georgie felt she wasn't quite ready for it and returned to the UK to live with twin sis and earn some much-needed cash. However, she does pop over about once a month so all is not lost. It's a big thing to do but there's something enormously satisfying about having a brand new life.

And don't worry about Dawg. Our two mutts much prefer it here.

    Erm--that would be a big yes, on the cold. yes, Montreal Quebec is about a 3 hour drive directly up Interstate 87--which is just a mile from here (hence our huge influx of French-speaking tourists and truckers every summer), and Ontario is approximately a 5 hour drive to the west.
    
    I guess it will quite the change for you...you'll be needing some seriously warm winter boots and coats!

        We do have the business to think of, we can't just take time off without planning the equivalent of a military operation!! We've got a vague idea of taking next Christmas off, but I know Myke's after Gran Canaria, for the heat... we'll have to see what the coming year brings! I hope so? I hate bloody flying. And knowing that Dawg is in the hold and not knowing what f*ck is going on is going to give me stress. But I WILL get through it. It is just one day among thousands?
